Investment

Your pension is invested in a way that is consistent with the ethos and ethics of the Church of England. Our approach is informed by the guidance from the Church's Ethical Investment Advisory Group

We invest the funds entrusted to us responsibly and for the long term to pay pension promises. Acting as a leader in ethical and responsible investment, and guided by Church teaching, we work with other pension funds and the companies in which we invest to drive lasting change to the world around us and into which our members will retire.

How contributions are invested

You cannot choose your own investments, we invest your money for you.

We pool all members' accounts together and invest this in our Common Investment Fund. This is a collective fund for all our pension schemes, amounting to over £3.5bn.

Through this, we invest Church Pension in a range of asset classes. The breakdown below shows current allocation. This changes over time.

All our investments adhere to our Church of England ethical investment criteria.

Stewardship in action

We believe that stewardship is integral to being a responsible investor, both financially and ethically. It is directly linked to the risk/return profile of our investments and to our responsibilities as part of the Church of England.

We act on behalf of our members and mobilise the power of the assets entrusted to us. When we work through partnerships with other investing institutions, we believe it is possible to drive positive change - not just in individual company behaviour, but on systemically important issues, with the potential to influence behaviours of entire sectors.
